About Jayda

Jayda Siggers

While all my post-graduate training provided me with the skill-set to query, research and solve difficult questions it was not until I had my own two children that I was required to truly learn. More specifically, as it became evident that my eldest son was prone to bio-accumulating heavy metals, it was imperative that I fully commit myself to nutritional sciences and learn how to modify our lifestyle and dietary tendencies to achieve a more balanced state of health and well-being.

Since completing my PhD, I took a brief hiatus from academia to focus on raising our children. Now that our children approach school age, I have completed my studies at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition® and continue to pursue my interests in nutrition and health. The Institute for Integrative Nutrition® is the only nutrition school integrating all the different dietary theories; combining the knowledge of traditional philosophies with modern concepts. As a certified holistic health practitioner, I am a member of  the American Academy of Drugless Practitioners (AADP).

In brief, my post-secondary education started at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada where I graduated with distinction from the College of Agriculture. During this period, I earned a Bachelor degree in Animal Nutrition and Physiology, which fostered a broad understanding of nutritional metabolism, biochemistry, and physiology. My successes and keen interests in nutritional sciences became the impetus behind my transition to the Toxicology Center at the University of Saskatchewan where I completed a Masters degree with a special interest in nutritional toxicology. The training, financial accolades and basic science research skills gained during my Masters program lead to a PhD scholarship within the Human Nutrition Department at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. During this period, I was able to combine all facets of my previous post-graduate training and successfully  completed a PhD in neonatal gastrointestinal physiology, nutrition and immunology.
